Notes:

The imaging industry has dramatically changed and although many photographers still use transparency a major percentage now work solely digitally
- In my current industry for example last year (2004) just 50% of our photographers worked digitally, Now that number is 90%!
Dealing with the information they provide is NOW a huge task for us as the methods for information management have changed completely.
- Providing this data has to be managed, I will elaborate on this later
Setting standards in the workflow is essential as is guidance from the photographers. Requesting the right quality of material is part of the equation. Knowledge of this benefits both the client and the photographer. The expectations of the client and the photographer can only be met if both parties are talking the same or similar languages.
So common practice activities is vital. Ever evolving they may be but we can keep abreast of what is going on.
Requesting something that cannot be delivered creates barriers as does inflexibility. Either way both the client and photographer will be creating vast amount of data that HOPEFULLY can be used again and again and more importantly can be FOUND again! But we will come to this later.
One way to achieve this is through the use of standards. Pic4Press is one such industry standard that outlines quality levels for digital imaging - in actuality a guideline not a standard. - I will elaborate on this further later on
