Introduction


Notes:

Firstly I’d like to give you a short introduction to myself
My background is in photography, “well if you go very far back in painting and then photography - just like Fox Talbot I used a camera because I was a frustrated painter.”
- I fell in love with photography at school and continued through art college and then to university
- So much so that I then continued and completed further research gaining a PhD with the University of Westminster, this time though in the use of digital technology to reproduce and organise images and their metadata
- I then worked with the National Trust and ran their Digital Imaging Department. One of the most beautiful jobs spending al day looking at magnificent pictures.
- I then became involved in information management for University College Dublin, lecturing library information studies students.
-Before finally managing the image and text assets for the magazine publisher EMAP Esprit. I now develop standards and methods of information management for them.
