RPS Travel Grant for Research Students

Details

The Imaging Science Group of the Royal Photographic Society introduced occasional travel grants for research students as part of the Society's 150th year celebrations in 2003.

Grants will be made to research students* in the field of Imaging Science towards the costs of attending a scientific conference or seminar relevant to their studies. Preferably the student will present work at the meeting but this is not essential.

Although preference will be given to conferences organised by the Imaging Science Group, attendance at other conferences and meetings will also be considered. Recipients will be expected to provide the Society with a report on the conference (which may be included on this site) and, where appropriate, will be encouraged to publish any work they present in the Society's technical publication, the Imaging Science Journal.

The number of awards given is flexible, depending on the Group finances, typically one to three per year. Each award will be a fixed grant of £250. Applications can be made at any time but preferably not less than 4 months before the conference. If you would like to make an application to be considered for an award, please complete the web based application form below. We will require:

  • details of the student (name, address, field of research, university department and name of supervisor)
  • the conference (title, subject, dates and location)
  • the presentation to be made (title and short abstract, minimum of 200 words).

The selection of successful candidates will be made by the Committee of the Imaging Science Group.

* Restricted at present to Research Students studying at Institutions within the United Kingdom.
